Hybrid spatial Gillespie and particle tracking simulation

چکیده
MOTIVATION Cellular signal transduction involves spatial-temporal dynamics and often stochastic effects due to the low particle abundance of some molecular species. Others can, however, be of high abundances. Such a system can be simulated either with the spatial Gillespie/Stochastic Simulation Algorithm (SSA) or Brownian/Smoluchowski dynamics if space and stochasticity are important. To combine the accuracy of particle-based methods with the superior performance of the SSA, we suggest a hybrid simulation. RESULTS The proposed simulation allows an interactive or automated switching for regions or species of interest in the cell. Especially we see an application if for instance receptor clustering at the membrane is modeled in detail and the transport through the cytoplasm is included as well. The results show the increase in performance of the overall simulation, and the limits of the approach if crowding is included. Future work will include the development of a GUI to improve control of the simulation. AVAILABILITY OF IMPLEMENTATION: www.bison.ethz.ch/research/spatial_simulations. An Efficient Target Tracking Algorithm Based on Particle Filter and Genetic Algorithm
In this paper, we propose an efficient hybrid Particle Filter (PF) algorithm for video tracking by employing a genetic algorithm to solve the sample impoverishment problem. In the presented method, the object to be tracked is selected by a rectangular window inside which a few numbers of particles are scattered. The particles’ weights are calculated based on the similarity between feature vecto...

A novel hybrid method for tracking multiple indistinguishable maneuvering targets using a wireless sensor network is introduced in this paper. The problem of tracking the location of targets is formulated as a Maximum Likelihood Estimation. We propose a hybrid optimization method, which consists of an iterative and a heuristic search method, for finding the location of targets simultaneously. T...

متن کاملA Hybrid Fast-Multipole Technique for Space-Charge Tracking With Halos
The simulation of injection and accumulation of intense proton beams in synchrotrons and accumulator rings requires a flexible and robust treatment of spacecharge effects. In particular, the simulation must be able to correctly incorporate the large-amplitude beam halo which is known to arise from a variety of mechanisms. This paper describes a technique for the efficient and accurate evaluatio...
